1st the not so good - the stripper clips are cheap. They work but the plunger just falls out. Since Kel-Tech sells replacement plungers, my guess is they are aware of this and expect people to lose them...a lot. If the clip is loaded, the plunger is braced but when empty or in my case, when I loaded the clip into the mag well, I pushed the plunger right out the bottom of the clip. I bought a few extra just...because...so I have plenty if I lose a plunger or two.
I took it to the range today and with the iron sights was hitting my little 3" targets from 7yards with ease. The recoil is almost non-existent. It's a super light poly frame so even for a 5.7, I expected a little bit of kick but I was genuinely surprised. I literally thought my first round was a dud (primer fired but powder didn't) until I fired the second and it was the same. This is not my 1st 5.7 but it is the smallest and the lightest and the others have more recoil than this one.
Reloading is easy but you're not going for fast reloads like a quick mag change John Wick style. However, with 20 rds, in a high stress situation, a reload shouldn't be necessary. If you think you might need to, this may not be the best choice for EDC. It comes with an adapter plate that mounts directly to the slide with no modifications or covers to remove. I've attached the plate, now waiting for my optic to arrive so I can mount it and take it back to the range next weekend to test it out again!
And disassembly is the easiest I have ever performed. Stupidly easy....did I mention it's super easy?!?! Push the trigger forward, it clicks, remove the slide. Disassemble. Reassembly is just as easy, once the pieces are together, place the slide on, push the trigger forward again, it clicks and you're done. The barrel has locking lugs so it can be just a bit temperamental to remove and replace but a little patience to line the lugs up and you're golden.
Weapon fine loading as expected
Runs perfectly , Little recoil, but noisy. Ammo not cheap but I can afford the cost . I have no regrets in this purchase. Stripper clips take a while to learn how to load, 150 rounds and no problem. This is a great canceled carry pistol , light and accurate for close ranges. With 20 rounds there should be no need for a reload.
so far, this is without a doubt, the best edc that i have ever owned. for some reason, i cannot carry a glock chambered. i just can't. the fact that i know that the striker is cocked or semi cocked, with no safety, just i can't do. but, double action only revolvers i've carried my whole life. well, this acts just like a dao but feeds like a semi auto. wow, external hammer, that is recessed buy the way, with a hammer block, and weighs like two packs of cigs with 21 rds of 57? this so far, and i've only put the full 21 rounds thru it, with not a single hiccup, is just fing amazing. so, far, is what i have looked for for years.
DO NOT PLAY WITH THIS PISTOL. IT IS VERY SOPHISTICATED. TAKE IT TO THE RANGE AND SHOOT IT. ENJOY 2 OR 3 OF THEM.
Great gun with great power and is small and weighs less than other 5.7 pistols. Only issue I am having is finding a holster that it will fit into. About the only thing available is a paddle holster for OWB; I would prefer a belt loop holster but at the present time none are to be found.
